Sensei Robert Young’s main focus is the passing on of his profound knowledge of Okinawan Goju Ryu through his teaching to any one who comes to his dojo. He is never one to seek the limelight, he prefers to let his students and their successes speak for his teachings. As such many karateka, from a myriad of styles, have benefited and been influenced by his teachings.

Sensei Robert Young has been practicing martial arts for over 40 years, and has produced many present and past World Champions. He has taught many State, National and International Champions but his focus has always been to preserve the traditional teachings of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Do. His advice is sought by many yet he still considers himself a student. He believes that all practitioners of karate should always remember that no matter what the style, it should be considered a journey and not a destination. For his personal growth he finds it incomparable to go to Okinawa, the birth place of all karate. It is there where all the most senior masters serve as an inspiration to all by their dedication to daily training, regardless of age. It is only through this never ending dedication to training that one will find the true essence of karate-do.

Presently, Sensei Young has been appointed Shibu Cho (Senior Representative) for the Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Do Kyokai for Florida, Technical Director for the Pan American Goju Ryu Karate Do Federation, and Founding Member and Director for the Florida Sport Karate League (RSO for the USANKF).

Sensei Young has a Master's Degree in C.I.S. from the University of Miami, and a Bachelors of Business Administration from Florida International University.
